Information for Trade and Charity Stances
The trade and charity stances are a key feature of our games. We look forward to welcoming our many regulars back again this year. We also hope that we will have new enquiries this year and can invite others to sample the unique atmosphere of the Abernethy Highland Games.
This note provides information to all those intending to set up a trade or charity stance at this year’s event. There are things that need to be done at least one month prior to the games. It is also important that you have information about setting up and taking down your stance on the day of the games.
The committee member in charge of allocating and managing the stances is Dougie Potter. Dougie can be contacted as follows;
E-mail – stances@abernethyhighlandgames.com
Telephone – 07803 371349
The cost this year is £18 per metre frontage. It is kindly requested that payment is made at least 4 weeks prior to the games. Information on how payment should be made will be provided by the convener.
Action Required Prior to the Games
- Fill in and print or email this application form
- The completed application form should be submitted to the convener as soon as possible. Spaces are limited in number and will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The convener will confirm applications by e-mail.
- At least I month prior to the games all confirmed stance applicants must, where applicable, complete and return Environmental Health and Fire Prevention forms in compliance of requirements stipulated by Highland Council.
- Every stance holder must have Public Liability Insurance. Copies of current PLI documents must be sent to the convener at least 4 weeks prior to games day. Failure to do so will result in the stance space being withdrawn. Abernethy Highland Games Association accepts no liability for any loss or damage to property, stock, persons or vehicles, however caused.
- The convener will try to meet all reasonable requests for specific positions around the games field. However, please be aware that it may not always be possible to do so due to the size and layout of the field.
- All stance holders should ensure that their stance itself, equipment, merchandise or information stands are effectively secured.
Information & Action Required for Games Day
- The field will be available for setting up stances from Thursday 7 August. The convener will be on hand at the games field to provide direction on setting up.
- All stance holders should be aware that vehicles can only be accommodated behind or adjacent to stances in some parts of the field. For those who cannot be accommodated, free parking is available in the public car park.
- On games day itself, all vehicles must be behind or adjacent to stands, as agreed with the convener, or clear of the field by 0900. Late arrivals may be refused entry. The Games start at 1000 sharp.
- Stances and vehicles cannot be moved from within the games field until at least 1700.
- Stances may be left overnight for removal on Sunday. Please note, however, that the committee cannot accept responsibility for equipment left on the field overnight.
The convener can be contacted at any time in the build up to games day for advice, information or guidance. The committee appreciate the work that all stance holders put in to contribute to the unique atmosphere of the Abernethy Highland Games and look forward to meeting everybody on games day.
