The village of Nethy Bridge is about 6 miles south of Grantown on Spey, 11 miles north of Aviemore and about 34 miles south of the city of Inverness.
Admission:
Tickets are only available at the gate on the day. Payment by card (subject to wifi connection) or cash.
The Games field provides good views of the arena from all areas. Bench seating is provided around the edge of the arena at no extra charge. Open Solo Piping is situated in a natural amphitheatre in the adjacent woodland. Junior Solo Piping and Drumming Events are held on the Tennis Courts adjacent to the arena.
Programme
- Dancing and piping competitions start at 10.00am
- Main competitions for athletics and traditional heavy events start at 11.00am
- Parade of Massed Pipes and Drums is at 1.00pm, 2.45pm, and 4.45pm
- Individual Pipe Band Competition commences around 3.00pm
- The Games finish at around 5.00pm.
Catering and other sales
- Full catering service is provided in the Community Centre. There are also a variety of food outlets on the field including a licenced bar.
- A variety of trade stands selling crafts, gifts, etc.
- Amusements and side shows
Free Car Parking:
There is car parking alongside the Games Field off the B970, with disabled parking close to the entrance to the Games field.
Other car parking is available to the rear of Birchfield Court opposite the Games field and on Station Road.
Travel by Train:
By exclusive arrangement with Strathspey Steam Railway you can travel to the Games by train departing from Aviemore or Boat of Garten to Broomhill Station, which is about a mile from Nethy Bridge. There is an inclusive return ticket giving you train travel, minibus transfer to Nethy Bridge, entry to the Games, and return by the same route. A special late train departs Broomhill at 5.30pm.
